12 Days of Caring at Discovery Park
Carers’ Support East Kent are a local charity based at Discovery Park who provide a lifeline of support and information to Carers. In East Kent, 1 in 9 people are Carers. This means they look after a relative or friend who due to physical or mental illness, age related difficulties, disability or an addiction cannot manage without their support. Caring will affect us all at some point in our lives, many people don’t see themselves as Carers and can leave seeking support until they are at breaking point.
Carers’ Support East Kent run support groups, wellness days and provide financial, practical and emotional support for Carers through their caring journey. For Christmas 2023 we are inviting our friends and colleagues at Discovery Park to get involved in our campaign to support Carers through; 12 Days of Caring.
Carers’ Support East Kent have teamed up with Your Leisure and Discovery Park to encourage you to GET MOVING in December. Your challenge is to meet The UK Chief Medical Officers’ Guidelines recommending each week adults do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity. So that’s just over 21 minutes per day and nearly 12 hours for the month of December.
Your Leisure have generously agreed to provide free supervised access to the gym in Innovation House between 1 and 2pm each day throughout December. Take part in one or more of the following activities or challenges all available at Discovery Park indoor or outdoor: Cycling, Running or Walking, Rowing, Table Tennis, Exercise Classes or any other activity you wish. 1st Place : Free Escape Membership (including Spa at Ramsgate LC), classes , gym , feelgood (Thanet) and swimming
2nd Place: Annual Discovery Park Membership
3rd Place: Free Group/company spa day (2 hours) maximum of 8 attendees

Nothing beats a good old Christmas Jumper Day! Get out your finest Christmas apparel, and wear your Christmas jumper with pride while fundraising for Carers’ Support East Kent.

Raise funds by having a bake-off sale or Christmas Coffee Morning.
Christmas Wrapping Service,
Set up a Christmas wrapping service charging a donation to wrap presents for your team.
12 Volunteer days for 2024
We would love you to get involved with Carers’ Support East Kent’s activities and events in 2024. Could you supervise a stall at Margate Pride, give a talk at one of our groups or Join our team at Broadstairs Folk festival. Pledging 12 Volunteer days for 2024 is a wonderful way to help us reach Carers and raise awareness about the work we do.

12 Christmas Dinners for Carers
Carers’ Support East Kent hold wonderful Christmas meet ups for all our Carers. This is a chance to get together, eat great food and connect. Your donation could sponsor a Carers Christmas Lunch.
12 Tickets for Carers,
Throughout the year Carers Support East Kent offer days out to Carers, providing them with respite care and the chance to recharge. Your donation could fund theatre tickets, a trip to the zoo or an exhibition. 12 Well Being Days for Carers Wellbeing days can be a craft session like wreath making, lino printing or meditation any activity which will uplift the Carers attending.
12 Months Sponsorship of a Carer’s Support Group.
We currently run free monthly support groups across East Kent, providing Carers with the chance to come together, find support and share information. Isolation and loneliness felt by unpaid Carers can be devastating. Our groups provide a friendly space of community and connection. Your Donation Could cover group refreshments or room hire
12 Gifts for Carers
Carers Support East Kent hold a Christmas Dinner get together for all our Carers’. To make this day extra special you could collect 12 Gifts for Carers’, chocolates, toiletries, and Christmas Treats to be gifted to Carers at their Christmas meetup.
